Tested BIOS Collection with SLIC 2.1: Find the Best BIOS for Your Acer-eMachines, HP, Dell and More

Alert about HP's 2510P bios F.20 or newer - do NOT upgrade to it for these reasons unless you don't care for the awesome no-whitelist, dual-IDA, SLIC 2.1 modded functionality. Also expect your resale to be worse if it's got the > F.20 bios once buyers figure out they are the undesirable systems to have.Alert about HP's newer and faster replacement ZIF HDDsIf your factory-delivered slow 60GB/80GB/120GB 2-platter Toshiba ZIF HDD has bad sectors then HP replace it under warranty with a higher-density thinner (5mm versus 8mm) single-platter drive. Eg: HP replaced my 80GB MK8009GAL with a MK8025GAL. It's still 4200rpm but my Win7 WEI disk increase from 3.9 to 4.4. It's faster and consumes slightly less power. The reason for this 'upgrade?' Toshiba no longer make those dual-platter models. Examples of modified 12" HP 2510P systems ordered by approx additional expense spent

No known method to downgrade F.20 or newer via software flashing. Need to either replace your bios chip with one containing a 2510P bios version earlier than F.20 to then be able to flash the no-whitelist modded 2510P bios.

DISCLAIMER: Use these modified bios at your own risk!! These modified bios have been beta tested to confirm they do not brick the system after flash. However you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer system or loss of data that results from flashing or using of a system with a patched BIOS. These BIOS are not tested or approved by HP.

* dual-IDA: Disables the EIST-lock bit. This means then Throttlestop (TS) can do a dual-IDA overclock, gaining an extra multiplier and 10%-12.5% performance from any U7xxx/L7xxx 2510P. TS also unlocks extra overvolting range from 0.9V to 1.0V to provide higher maximum setfsb overclockability. L7xxx also gain a lower SLFM voltage floor for greater undervolting ability using TS. If you don't use Throttlestop then your system will run with the speed and power consumption as it did prior to flashing the dual-IDA capable bios.

Sub-elements call out specific SMBIOS values, which will affect the guest ifused in conjunction with the smbios sub-element of the os element(see Operating system booting). Each sub-element of sysinfo names a SMBIOSblock, and within those elements can be a list of entry elements thatdescribe a field within the block. The following blocks and entries arerecognized:

NB: Incorrectly supplied entries for the bios, system orbaseBoard blocks will be ignored without error. Other than uuidvalidation and date format checking, all values are passed as stringsto the hypervisor driver.

For its recent laptop models; Acer (and its subsidiaries)choose a weird way of delivering bios updates. When a model is sold withoutWindows 8, then it is delivered with 1.x bios which lacks UEFI booting andSecure Boot support. If the same model is sold with Windows 8, then it isdelivered with 2.x bios with the option of UEFI booting and Secure Boot.Problem is a user can't update from 1.x bios to 2.x bios with the downloadedbios update. Its shows: "Please update to the same type of bios(v.1.x)".To avoid this detection, we have to hex-edit the following:

Extract the application using 7-Zip and try to locate isflash.bin (which is your bios file)& platform.ini. Then open them with hexeditor and change like above. Now flash using InsydeFlash.exe.To overcome all of the checks, we need to edit more:

NOT WORKING: USB 3 - still some weird issues like lockups or USB locking, audio - weird ports but working, sleep, and weird display artifacts from time to time.Installed using ChimeraOnce OS X 10.8.2 was running on Chimera side I copied the .plist files (smbios and org.chameleon...)The system would now go into OS X successfully, but not before then.Inserting a USB Thumb drive locks up OS X, so I insert it prior to booting. Fixed?Applied the Broadcom network patch using KextWizardNvidia GTS 450 - Kept going to a black screen (no signal) once it would hit the login screen. Didn't appear to be an out of range issue with the resolution. I installed the Nvidia Fermi Open CL Patch. That still didn't fix the issue, so I rebooted -x -v -F and got in. Once I was in, I rebooted once again without any boot flags. Failed! Added entries to org.chameleon.Boot.plist: npci=0x2000, PCIRootUID=0ALC898 Audio Fixed by Applying Realtek AC8XX Patch - kind of. Ports are off.I installed all of FakeSMC, including plugins, BUT it locked up at the spinning icon. To fix that, I had to download FakeSMC r616 from OSX86.net and copied over manually from terminal. I tried this to fix my artifacts that appeared on the screen. It did NOT work. 2ff7e9595c
